The ballad of the limping Devil

WORK IN PROGRESS...(Part one, Lisbon and Sintra)

"The ballad of the limping devil" or "I awoke one morning to find myself famous" is a work-in-progress inspired by the 1809 expedition into the Iberian peninsular by the romantic poet, Lord Byron. His route took him from Lisbon and Sintra (having arrived by ship from Falmouth) to Seville, Jerez, Cadiz and Gibraltar, from where he departed for Malta on a navy frigate My work is a contemporary response to that 19c "road-trip"
